Variable Area Flow For typical in-line metering applications (i.e. for Gas & Liquid), Purge Glass Tube Rotameters are designed for low flow measurement and for purging applications. These come in glass tube and acrylic body tube designs. These operate according to the variable area principle. The fluid flowing from bottom to top allows the float to freely glide up and down the tapered Acrylic Body Tube OR Glass Tube. The float is placed in a position where the weight of the float and the buoyancy forces are proportionately balanced. The measure of the instantaneous flow rate is the vertical position of the float as shown by the scale.
